The Shark APEX UpLight DuoClean Vacuum Cleaner: Best Review (2022)

Finding a good vacuum cleaner to buy can be surprisingly hard. With a short search query, you will find dozens of different recommendations given to you. In that case, it can be hard to decide what to buy.

TheKingLive can make the chore easier!

In this guide, we’ll introduce you to one of the best vacuum cleaners that we have ever tested. It’s not only one of the best performing models, it’s also among the most reasonably-priced models for what it offers, as well.

That vacuum is the Shark Apex uplight

Performance

Our testers spent a week with this vacuum, and the reports they produced were highly encouraging.

On bare floors, the Shark APEX performed excellently. It could suck up dirt and debris, from small-size debris like rice grains to larger debris like cereal bits. The strong suction power and the high-powered brush roll handled like a champ throughout the bare floor tests.

On carpeting, the vacuum’s performance suffered somewhat. It does great on low-pile floors, being able to suck up dust, various kinds of debris, and pet hair. But on high-pile carpets, the Shark APEX UpLight DuoClean visibly faltered. It could only clean up around ¾ of the pet hair on the dense carpet piling. But in return, the vacuum could still deal with dust and common debris on high-pile carpets just fine.

That’s a very good performance rating for a stick vacuum. The Shark APEX UpLight came very close to many full-sized upright vacuums in our database!

Design

As a stick vacuum, the Shark APEX UpLight was designed to be as compact and lightweight as possible. Unfortunately, Shark didn’t exactly do a great job in this department.

Compared to other stick vacuums we have tested, the UpLight is quite weighty at 11.2 pounds. In terms of dimension, the vacuum is considered cumbersome, too. We measured a dimension around 45 inches tall, 11 inches wide, and 11.4 inches deep.

However, despite the discouraging numbers, the Shark APEX UpLight has very good ease of use, according to our testers. The ergonomics handle molds to our testers' palms, making long cleaning periods less fatiguing.

How to Maintain the Shark APEX UpLight’s Cleaning Head: 2021 Guide

Ease of Maintenance

One of the key “weaknesses” of this model is that it is quite complicated to maintain. There are many parts on the vacuum that you need to clean or replace regularly.

For example, you need to clean the pre-motor air filters once a month to clear up all of the gunks and dirt accumulating on its surface. The post-motor HEPA filter lasts longer, but it also needs to be cleaned at least once a year to work well.

These aren’t the only parts, though. You also need to clean the brush roll, the various tools and nozzles, and the dust cup at regular intervals. If not, you will risk the vacuum breaking down on you.

Conclusion

Shark Apex uplight duoclean may not be the newest model that Shark has to offer (it’s 2-3 years old already.) But it is still an excellent stick vacuum worth buying today.

And arguably, it’s worth buying now more than ever. If you know where to look and buy at the right time, you can get a brand-new unit at a steep discount compared to the list price!
