When set to true your browser will ask you to authenticate before showing the Config mode pages. And an extra page for changing your password will be added to Config mode.
This is a device specific password stored in EEPROM and has nothing to do with your IOTAppStory account.
Default is set to false. And the default login credentials are set to admin - admin. Max password length:16 char
